چکیده

Methods: In this comparative, nonrandomized interventional study, we analyzed 15 eyes of 15 patients (aged 44-84 years) at 6 months after cataract surgery and PCIOL implantation (Akkommodative 1CU; HumanOptics AG, Erlangen,Germany)andcompared these resultswith those of an age-matched control group (n=15). We used the following methods to measure accommodation: dynamic measurement with objective (videorefractometry [PowerRefractor; PlusOptix, Erlangen] and streak retinoscopy) and subjective (subjective near point [pushup test and accommodometer] and defocusing) techniques, as well as static measurement of the change in anteriorchamberdepth(ACD)using the IOLMaster (Zeiss, Jena, Germany) after pharmacological stimulation using 2% pilocarpine eye drops.

Apparent accommodation in pseudophakic eyes after implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses.

We measured apparent accommodation in 42 pseudophakic eyes (34 patients) after implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses. The mean apparent accommodation was 2.03 +/- 1.03 diopters. The mean accommodative power of 16 phakic eyes used as controls was 2.91 +/- 1.29 diopters. The diameter of the pupil appeared to be the most important factor in apparent accommodation--the smaller the pu...

Apparent accommodation in pseudophakic eyes as measured with visually evoked potentials.

We measured apparent accommodation with pattern reversal visually evoked cortical potentials in 27 pseudophakic eyes after the implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses. The patients ranged in age from 47-83 years. The amplitude of accommodation was not significantly different between pseudophakic eyes and normal phakic eyes. Apparent accommodation was inversely proportional to the p...

Optical principles, biomechanics, and initial clinical performance of a dual-optic accommodating intraocular lens (an American Ophthalmological Society thesis).

PURPOSE To design and develop an accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) for endocapsular fixation with extended accommodative range that can be adapted to current standard extracapsular phacoemulsification technique. METHODS Ray tracing analysis and lens design; finite element modeling of biomechanical properties; cadaver eye implantation; initial clinical evaluation. RESULTS Ray tracing anal...

Implantation of a new accommodative posterior chamber intraocular lens.

PURPOSE A new, potentially accommodative posterior chamber lens (PCIOL) was designed based on principles elaborated by Hanna using finite element computer simulation methods. We report 3-month postoperative results in patients. METHODS In a prospective study, 12 eyes of 12 patients (age 45 to 87 yr) underwent phacoemulsification for cataracts and PCIOL implantation. The PCIOL, 1 CU, has hapti...
